Family-run, Focused on Community
Gradient first opened its doors in August 2004 in a rustic little blacksmith shop-turned-paddler hang out at the east end of main street. At the time, we were mostly interested in providing a means to get great boats and gear for local kayakers and exploring the waters in northwest Wyoming.
Today we are more centrally located downtown in the midst of all the hubbub and still provide great boats and gear for local as well as visiting paddlers. We've added to our fleet (stand up paddle boards are HUGE and kayak fishing is taking off!) and our family, and we are still focused on exploring the remarkable waters of the Greater Yellowstone region and beyond. Rentals, instruction and guided trips have become cornerstones of our business. Activities like Paddle Like a Girl and the Wild West Paddle Club help introduce dozens of new paddlers to the sports of kayaking and stand up paddleboarding each year. And we couldn't be more excited!
What do we do? We paddle a lot! Maybe too much when sometimes we should be tending to other things, but we're out there doing our research. We know our local waters - whether it's the Shoshone that winds through town or the great, scenic lakes surrounding us - and we know the products we sell or rent inside and out. Come in and bend our ear to find out more. We can't wait to share our excitement with you.
Where do we do it? Cody is a thriving community located just 52 miles from the East Gate to Yellowstone National Park. With multigenerational roots in the community, we believe in access to our public lands and providing opportunities to get out and enjoy them fully. Let's go paddle!
