PLANNING TO US
LET US SHOW YOU A SIDE OF WYOMING YOU'VE NEVER SEEN
Looking for a new adventure but prefer to be with an experienced outdoorsman who knows the lay of the land? Perfect! Go with one of our guides! Gradient Mountain Sports’ qualified and certified staff lead a variety of outings for all ability levels including whitewater duckie or kayak trips on the Shoshone River, flatwater touring and sunset paddleboarding on Buffalo Bill Reservoir, fishing kayak trips on Newton Lake to catch the big lunkers, and more!
SHOSHONE RIVER KAYAKING
($90/Short Trip - Inflatable Kayaks)
Join us for some whitewater action! Hop in a solo or tandem inflatable kayak for a guided paddle down a 4.5-mile section of the Shoshone River with Class II whitewater and indescribably great scenery. Our guides provide safety and kayak instruction prior to and throughout the trip. This is a great option for people who want a bit more adventure than a standard raft trip. These trips are run exclusively as kayak tours, rather than along with a rafting trip, so we can be more flexible and take time to practice surfing waves or run a rapid a second time. All transportation and gear (including wetsuits and booties) are provided on this specialty trip.
SHOSHONE RIVER KAYAKING
($130/Long Trip - Inflatable Kayaks)
Want a little more time on the river? So do we! This trip is a 6-mile extension of our signature inflatable kayak tour. Similar to the short trip, this outing is run exclusively as a kayak tour on a 12-mile section of the Shoshone River. Together we’ll take on some Class II+ whitewater and enjoy the unrivaled scenery. Our guides provide safety and kayak instruction prior to and throughout the trip. This trip is especially great at higher flows. All transportation and gear (including wetsuits and booties) are provided.
SOUTH FORK SCENIC FLOAT
Enjoy the quiet beauty of the South Fork of the Shoshone River by raft or inflatable kayak. These trips are always special and are best suited for groups who are on their own timeline. We can tailor the trip around water levels and access points so that we have optimal conditions on this seldom-run river. It's not uncommon to float past herds of elk, raptors, moose and beavers.
Float times vary but are usually around two hours on the water and 4.5 hours round trip. Gradient is the only commercial float company on this river, so it's not very crowded! All transportation and gear are provided.
KAYAK BIGHORN CANYON
($200/person, Full Day)
Explore Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area from water level! Our guides will lead you on a geological and historical tour of this amazing canyon and share some of its hidden gems. This flat water tour starts with a clinic focused on paddling and safety and can be easily customized to your abilities. We have a variety of kayak choices to fit your level, including touring kayaks and sit-on tops in tandem or solo. Includes lunch and transportation to and from Bighorn Canyon.
SHOSHONE CANYON RAFT - SHORT
($50/Adults, $45/Children 4-13)
Explore the Red Rock Canyon of the Shoshone River just five minutes from Cody but with a remote feel. This canyon has it all: whitewater, spectacular scenery, wildlife, history and adventure! This class II (III) section of river is approximately 4.5 miles in length and lasts around one hour on the water at normal flows (2 hours roundtrip) and is a great option for families and first-timers! All transportation and gear are provided.
SHOSHONE CANYON RAFT - LONG
($80/Adults, $75/Children 4-13)
If you're looking for more time on the water, this trip is right for you! With all the features the Red Rock Canyon has to offer, this trip combines the 6-mile Lower Canyon for a 12-mile adventure. Scenery, wildlife, history and one larger rapid make this trip especially great when flows are higher. A great option for families and first-timers! Approximately 2.5 hours of water time (3 hours round-trip). All transportation and gear are provided.
LOWER NORTH FORK HALF DAY
($90/person, May 1 to July 31)
Explore the North Fork of the Shoshone River by raft! This trip begins at the US Forest Service boundary and continues downstream through the beautiful Wapiti Valley. Amazing views of snow-capped peaks, wildlife and exciting class II-III whitewater make this trip a true adventure. The North Fork is a free-flowing river so the float season is shorter, but all the more exciting! All transportation and gear are provided. These trips are conducted in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service.
PACK RAFTING THE NORTH FORK
($200/person, May 1 to July 31)
This full-day backcountry experience is truly a wilderness adventure! Explore the upper reaches of the North Fork of the Shoshone River just one mile outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park in the Washakie Wilderness. The trip starts with a 3-mile hike up the North Fork Valley, replete with awe-inspiring views. After lunch and a thorough safety briefing, our guides escort you down the river back to Pahaska Tepee. This trip is designed to be a great intro to pack rafting in one of the most amazing ecosystems in the US. All transportation, gear and lunch are provided. These trips are conducted in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service.
CLARK'S FORK HALF-DAY
The sweeping views of the Clark's Fork of the Yellowstone River make this scenic raft trip a one-of-a kind experience. The trip begins just downstream of the Wild and Scenic Clark's Fork Canyon, the Nation's third deepest gorge, and concludes 8 miles later on the plains. The trip can be customized to be scenic class I-II, or put in 2 miles upstream for a class III adventure. Most trips are 4.5-5 hours round trip. Gradient is the only company to commercially float the Clark's Fork, so seeing other parties on the river is very rare. All transportation and gear is provided.
